This page lists all events that can be voted on an Every Other Month basis. Voting is open at all times, with the most recent comment hosting the votes for the upcoming event. Suggestions can also be made on this page, under the Suggestions Header, so please keep this in mind.

You may also vote for events to be Removed from the List; these events enter a state of Limbo until a demand to bring them back exists.

If the Shoe Fits
- Your footwear is not what it should be-did you like heels? GETA? Too bad, it is now very different and probably not comfortable at all, and if you try to just go barefoot, you might find them back on your feet when you don't look...

Creature Swap
- From day one, each muse with a deck will find their cards swapped out with an entirely different one. It could be entirely randomized, or relate ironically to the character (IE Arc-V XYZ duelist gaining a Fusion deck). This event can be voted for alongside 'Duel Monsters Tournament', for the sake of muses seeing the event's effects.

Relation Flip - Cupid's Arrow may have struck wrong this time-from friends to frenemies to lovers, the feelings of others have turned on their head; not only are you keeping your enemies close, they're maybe TOO close now. And if not everyone is effected, things could get pretty interesting...try not to do anything you'll regret!

Freaky Friday - For an entire month, things are about to get switched right around for everyone! Muses switch bodies with other muses, and are stuck that way the entire month. Not everyone may be affected though, which makes things more confusing...

Clothing Swap
-- For reasons unknown, your muse is wearing someone else's clothes; maybe someone from the DR, or someone back home, or worse--that horrid winter sweater they swore NEVER AGAIN for. Either way, they aren't getting the normal ones back.

Faulty Data
-- The island becomes a bugged datascape, with faults in the coding abundant. Even you might be bugged. It's not too hard to deal with--just beat it into submission! But be warned, you might just start to become what you kill...

Animal Farm -- Did you have a pet cat? A dog, maybe? Firebreathing dragon? Whatever the animal, they're human now, and woefully confused! Note that this applies to animal MUSES as well!

Come dance with me! - Steven Universe, Dragon Ball, whatever your poison, fusion is a thing! But sometimes it's not the best thing-are you a perfect match creating more than just a sum of parts? Or are you and your fusion-mate now a monster with two heads, a collection of rage? Be careful..! Some of you could get stuck that way...

Boggarts
-- What, did you think the monster under your bed was fake? Think again. For this event, your worst fears are hiding in the dark corners of your room, but don't worry--laugh a little, and it just might go away! ...If you think of that at least.

Mirror, Mirror - There's a whole world beyond the mirror, and now there's a risk of getting dragged into it; into the flipside of the Island, where peace is chaos, and friend is enemy! On the bright side, maybe people can say hello through the mirror that sucked you in?

Everybody Must Get Stoned
-- No not THAT stoned-- Starting from the bottom, the entire island is petrified. This includes animate beings if given the chance. Yes, even if they started out as stone. The island goes back to normal at the end of the month, like it never even happened.

DUELS. IN. SPAAAAAAACE -- The island is now a space station, with certain places being similarly changed, and other staying the same for 'historical accuracy'. Interesting to note that the ocean still remains, in a sense... (Don't try to sail off it now.)

One with the Sky
-- Muses are now able to fly--whether by growing wings, floating, or gaining a partner who grants the ability, they can soar to their heart's content! Some muses might even keep these powers after the event!

Gotta Catch 'Em All! - AKA the one where everyone gets turned into Pokemon for a month. Take care not to burn/flood/electrocute/poison your home/friends, now! (And enjoy the new 'universal language')

The Birds -- Sudden swarm of birds for no reason; moods vary between docile or aggressive. (VERY AGGRESSIVE)

I Can Do What I Want Mom! - Tattoos! Piercings! Scars! The sky's the limit for body modification between you and a trusted party! You can even get tenta- wait a minute.....

Duel Monsters Tournament
-- BREAK OUT THE ROLLER COASTERS AND D-WHEELS! Even if you didn't like dueling before, you sure will now!

Balance the Scales - Someone's hijacked the revival functions of the island! (Or were they?) Whoever dies are trapped in a new location and something must be traded to get someone back. Anything from cookies to memories are fair game.

EVENTS IN LIMBO:

Attack of the Duel Zombies -- Something is turning both NPCs and Muses alike into zombies, but these zombies don't hunger for brains...they crave only duels! And it's the only way to stop them, because anything else (including cars, high power magic bolts...) just bounces off.

What To Expect When (Not) Expecting -- Affected muses have a dream where a person they know hits them with a water balloon: for the first half of the month, morning sickness and cravings abound! Second half, a lump will appear on the area the balloon hit--if allowed to run its course, it'll break open at the end of he month to reveal a large gem, and healed, markless skin. Weird.

Every Chromosome is a Hand-Me-Down -- Muses gain the ability to create clones! Clones act identically to the original, and vanish in a puff of smoke ala 'Naruto' when 'killed', passing their memories onto the original. If the original muse dies however, all clones vanish regardless--resulting in quite the headache when the original revives! (If someone wants to retain a less powerful version of this ability, they may.)

SIED IHR DAS ESSEN UND WIR SIND DIE JAEGER - Exactly what you're thinking - it's just like the above, now with 100% more naked genital-less humanoids! And less giant robots. Possibly. Of course, the whole revival thing stands, so enjoy getting eaten by things over and over and over again!

Groundhog Day Loop -- Everyone is trapped in a time loop. That would be bad enough, but they're all stuck in separate time loops, so while you might be stuck on the 1st of the month, when you talk to your best friend, they're stuck on the 15th. At the end of the month, time straightens out, with all memories organized accordingly [though the fact that the day repeated isn't forgotten either].

Welcome to the Yugioh DR. A veritable sea of locations, floating in an ether that can at best be described as the pure cosmos. For the most part, the day-light seems to only take effect within each 'island' in this spacedust, so when muses travel between locations, they'll find themselves plunged into a deep dark sea of stars, the numerous 'isles' easily visible around them.

Each 'Island' is far larger than it looks. Some encompass entire biomes, containing oceans and mountains. Others are smaller, and only contain a single city, or even a single home. But each of the main isles-those that aren't somehow privatized, that is-have one thing in common.

They all have a single 'summon' space, where a muse may leave for another location. While some places have more comfortable methods such as the SkyTrain, this will be the most common method of travel; muses will literally soar through the sky, using only their intentions to take them to where they must go.

With so many places, it's easy for someone to feel the need for a pitstop at another isle before their final destination however, and it's encouraged that players take advantage of this!

Key Isles will be located on the map above, but players are more than welcome to suggest locations below, in the comments.

COMET WARNINGS

While monthly HMDs and Events are no longer a thing, sometimes you just want to let loose with something weird. For that reason, mods and players alike can essentially host mini events in posts they make, by making the casual throw-away excuse that a particular comet is passing by the island it's on.

To keep events optional, comets will NEVER affect all of the islands. It's all fine if you want to play around with 'everyone is a cat today', but some people probably want to sit out. As it stands, there's no real rule on how to format these- just make a note that something weird is going on on the island your post is happening in, and that's that!

PLAYER ISLANDS

Would you like to create an island of your own? Those added to the map will need to be discussed with the mods, but players are absolutely welcome to create islands of their own in the space that is the DR! Simply leave a Comment below using the form, and there it will be! (A mod comment has been left to provide a sample)

So just what is a Dressing Room?

A dressing room is basically a glorified musebox. You can run any variation of muse according to the dressing room's requirements, and you can do so without the need for an app, or even the worry for 'duplicate' characters. With no activity check or post minimum, people can come and go as they please-unlike a musebox, specific or not, the Dressing Room has extra perks such as a set location, or events.

How many characters can I play?

As noted above, there's no app for the DR-likewise, there's no muse cap. That said, while it isn't required, it's recommended that constant players keep track of who they have in the DR using the Player Directory, just so that things remain organized. Likewise, we ask that you tag entries you take part in with your character, just to keep things together.

My character isn't in the tag list!

Don't worry! The YGO DR has a system that allows all players to add their own tag. While it's best to check that your character is already there, you can make things easier to search for by keeping the following in mind;

  • Tags will only ever use the Japanese names, unless someone specifically chooses to run the Dub muse.
  • Japanese names will be Last Name First, unless the names are specifically 'western' (IE, Jack Atlas or Dennis Macfield). Similarly, dub names are listed in Western Order.

Keep in mind that while name spelling can vary player to player, many tags will use the extended vowels as well, so be careful! (So for example, 'Mutou Yuugi' would be the tag for Yuugi.)

    Beyond this, a tag name will be followed by one of the following if there are unique canon iterations;

    'manga'
    'Dub'
    'Abridged'
'(Alternate Series)' - IE 'Jack Atlas ArcV'
    '(AU)'

Original characters, being Original, will use the tag '(Name) OC'.

Notably, the DR is open for people to join in with Non-YGO Characters as well; in these circumstances, the tag will be 'Alt Canon'. Unfortunately, if we create specific tags for non-ygo characters, we run the risk of running out of tags at this point! (If a better work around can be found however, we will use it.)

  • I want something on the map that doesn't yet exist.

Go for it! The locations page is created so that adding new locations is easy as can be! Simply try to keep the size limited to a small city, or bring it forward to the mods if you'd like something 'bigger' to be added to the official list.

Do I need to be able to Duel to play this game?

That would get quite tedious, so fear not! If a duel comes up, handwaving is typically acceptable, and those who wish to play through the duels are more than welcome to do so. It's entirely up to the players!

My question isn't on this list!

Unsurprising-this is a short list! But if you have a question, ask it below with a comment, and the mods will do their best to answer in a timely manner!

Welcome! Just joined up or looking at the game? Here's what you need to know.

All of our rules come back to one basic rule:

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Everyone in the DR is here to have a good time-and as long as we remember that, we can be sure to get along.

    BASIC RULES

    Talk to the Mods

If you have a problem, a question, or a concern, bring it to the moderators. Don't just sit on it and worry-it's what we're here for! Likewise though, be sure to be courteous when it comes to bringing things forward. Don't just send an angry seething PM in all caps if something bugs you! Tell us what your problem is clearly, and politely; we do want to help, and the caps can be...a little scary.

    Be good to each other

Remember that golden rule up above? That's what this is. This is a collaborative hobby, and it's a fandom to a series based in friendship and cooperation. Respect the boundaries of others! Ask people before you spring anything too intense, like violence or trauma, on their characters. Most importantly, IC doesn't mean OOC; sometimes characters fight, but the players aren't their characters! It's always good to remember this.

    Do your Homework!

Read up on things before you hop in! If you have something you need to know, there's a good chance that it has an answer somewhere-not to mention, there's the rules, details of how to tag posts, and so on, so on...and if you CAN'T find what you're looking for, you can always ask a question.

    No Godmodding, no Metagaming

Godmodding is forcing another person's character into a specific course of action. Metagaming is when your character has knowledge that they ICly just shouldn't. Both of these can cause lots of trouble for everyone involved, so it's best not to do this!

With godmodding, not everyone agrees on where the line sits; for some it's when your character is outright forcing them into another direction. For others it's when your character simply asks if they can do something! If someone seems to be godmodding, try to sort things out with the other player before bringing it to the mods-sometimes, a player might not even realize they were doing something wrong, and it's best to smooth things over peacefully rather than assume something was deliberate.

Likewise, meta can have a fuzzy line as well. Sometimes characters really ARE that knowledgeable, but other times, mindreading could be involved-and that's not something just anyone would deal with. Similarly, this is a fandom where numerous series are connected in a single timeline-what one muse assumes to be metagaming could well just be common knowledge to the other. Once again, try to work things out between players if you're unsure, before bringing it to the mods. No one wants to have an argument and discussion when it turns out that it was a simple misunderstanding.

For both of the above, it may be a good idea to create a Permissions Post to help tell others where you stand on such things.

    Don't Bully or Harass others

Just. Don't. This is a rule that encompasses just about anything on the site-from pestering others for tags, to outright sending threats, these are serious matters, and there will be no excuse for breaking this or not reading these rules. If someone is threatening your safety, bring it to the mods IMMEDIATELY. Unlike the above, harassment is a serious and deliberate matter, and one that can occasionally bleed into real life. The mods may not be thought police, but if things escalate to such a point, we will do what we can to get law enforcement involved.

    SPECIFICS

    Adult Content

Before all else, if you thing what you're dealing with in a thread may involve a triggering subject, make sure to mark it with a warning and hide the post under a 'cut text'. The DR is here to make other players feel welcome-coming in and seeing a bloodbath post isn't always going to do that.

When it comes to sex, the age of consent in the YGO-DR is 16. If your character or their partner(s) are 15 or younger, anything that moves into sexual touch and beyond (or masturbation) MUST be moved off the community.

If you intend to have adult content in your post, this as well should be marked with a specific warning, for the sake of others.

Violence is a more flexible topic, but if a scene becomes graphic, it should be hidden under cut-text. In the event that serious injury or death may be involved, always ask the players involved if they're willing to go through with things.

Fortunately, death is not permanent at the DR. Those who die will revive in the 'Graveyard', a relatively spooky area they can access the rest of the DR from. They may experience, if players choose, a missed amount of time, or even illness however as a result.

Once again, for many of the above topics, creating a Permissions Post can easily help other players to know where you stand on things!

    BROKEN RULES

In the event of rule breaking, this is what will happen:

    1. Mods will discuss it with each other.
    2. Mods will discuss it with any and all parties involved via IM, Skype, private plurk chat, or similar.
    3. In the case of serious player disputes, players will be asked to talk it out in mediated chat.
    4. Mods and/or players will come to an agreement on a course of action.

Consequences are: first warning, second warning, probation, tempban, permaban. Don't make us do this to you! Modhammers don't make anybody happy, including the mods.

If you have further questions, be sure to take a look at the FAQ page, to see if your question has already been answered. Otherwise, you can either ask a question there, or contact the moderators.
